Edgar Calle

Edgar Ernst Leon Calle (born May 31, 1879 in Vienna ; † April 22, 1955 there ) was an Austrian composer and pianist .

The musician was born as the son of the chief inspector of the state railways Emil Calle. The family comes from an old French noble family who were wealthy in Normandy. Edgar Calle attended the Gymnasium of the Theresian Academy and the University of World Trade in Vienna . In addition, he was privately engaged in music and learned the piano and composition.

The preoccupation with music was reflected in his work as an opera and song composer. The inventory of the incomplete estate in the Vienna City and State Library contains around 50 songs and operas.

His studies and his inclination enabled him to run a stage and music publisher and he also became the managing director of the "Association of Stage Publishers". He was also a member of the stage arbitration tribunal and the arbitration tribunal of the Society of Authors, Composers and Music Publishers (AKM).

It rests in the Evangelical Cemetery of the Vienna Central Cemetery (IV, 141).
