Edgar Manyak

Edgar Manyak (* 1967 in Sibiu , Romania ) is a musician born in Romania.

Life

education

He received his first lessons from his father when he was 10 years old. After moving to Germany, Manyak was a private student of the German composer, music teacher and conductor Richard Zettler . In 1989 Manyak began his studies at the Berlin University of the Arts with Professor Johann Doms (* April 24, 1923; † January 7, 2011). In the following year 1990 he moved to the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen and Hochschule für Musik Freiburg to study with Professor Branimir Slokar (* 1946). In 1994 Edgar Manyak completed his orchestral diploma. An artistic postgraduate course followed.

Musician career

After several years of chamber music activity, including in the Slokar trombone quartet, he was engaged in 1996 by the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. From 2005 to 2006 he was solo trombonist in the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden .

Teaching

In 2000, Manyak took on a teaching position at the Liszt State University of Music Weimar . He exercised this until 2003. In 2001 he took over the professorship for Branimir Slokar at the State University of Music Freiburg. In 2007, Manyak was a lecturer at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo , Japan. Since 2008 he has been a professor at the University of Music in Basel .

Awards

At the age of 19 he received the first prize and became the national trombone winner at the German youth music competition . In 1992 he was a finalist at the international trombone competition "Prague Spring" and in 1993 received 1st prize at the international trombone competition of the International Trombone Association in Berlin.
