Richard Zettler

Richard Zettler (born November 1, 1921 in Leutkirch im Allgäu ; † April 13, 2015 in Stuttgart ) was a German composer , music teacher and conductor .

Life

Zettler studied from 1938 to 1940 at the Württemberg University of Music in Stuttgart, trombone, piano and cello. He was then called up for military service and played in a music corps of the German Air Force .

From 1945 to 1977 Zettler was the solo trombonist of the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra . From 1963 he taught at the State University for Music in Trossingen and in Stuttgart. He stayed in this position until 1975. In 1980 Zettler was appointed professor for trombone and harmony at the music college and in 1995 he retired.

Zettler co-founded the Landesblasorchester Baden-Württemberg with Hellmut Haase-Altendorf in 1978 and conducted the orchestra until 1980. As a composer, he mainly wrote orchestral works.

As a conductor and music director, Zettler led numerous orchestras and music associations:

  • 1961–1964 conductor Musikverein Neuenhaus
  • 1968–1986 music director of the Aldingen / Remseck music association
  • 1970–1991 district conductor Ludwigsburg district association
  • 1971–1991 music director of the Ludwigsburg district association
  • 1969–1977 Head of the Steinenbronn Music Association
  • 1978–1986 head of the Aldingen / Remseck music school
  • 1978–1991 Music Director of the Waiblingen Municipal Orchestra

He led the Aldingen Music Association and the Waiblingen Municipal Orchestra to the highest level.
