Edith Nylon was an influential French new wave band in the early 1980s that was founded by singer Mylène Khaski , her brother Zako Khaski and two other members.

history

Emerging from the band The Worms , it changed its name in July 1978 to Edith Nylon , a combination of the names of Édith Piaf and the New York artist Judy Nylon . The first single release Edith Nylon from 1979 was a great success and representative forerunner for later French new wave bands. In the same year, the first LP release, also self-titled, followed. Some concerts by The Police played Edith Nylon as the opening act. Later releases could not build on the early success, so that after the last studio album Echo, bravo, recorded in London, the band broke up in 1982 .

Mylène Khaski , known at the time as a French Nina Hagen , later left France to work in the United States. In 2003 the debut LP plus 5 bonus songs was re-released on CD.
