The Society of Edmundites ( Latin : Societas Patrum Sancti Edmundi , abbreviation : SSE ) is a Roman Catholic society of apostolic life for men.

The Edmunditen was founded in 1852 by the French Benedictine Jean-Baptiste Muard in Pontigny in the Yonne department . It is named after the Catholic theologian , philosopher and Saint Edmund Rich of Abingdon , Archbishop of Canterbury.

In 1889, due to the anti-clerical developments in France, many members of the order fled first to the French-speaking Québec and later to the then French-speaking part of northern Vermont , in Winooski Park . There they built Saint Michael's College in Colchester in 1904 .

The company has offices in the United States, France and Venezuela. General Superior is Michael Cronogue SSE.
