The Edmunds Glacier is a glacier on Mount Rainier in the state of Washington . It was named after George F. Edmunds in 1883 . The glacier is located on the western flank of the volcano below the steep rock faces Mowich Face and Sunset Face . Starting at approximately 9,900 ft (3,018 m) altitude, the glacier flows northwestward to approximately 7,000 ft (2,134 m) altitude and ends northeast of Jeanette Heights . The meltwater from the Edmunds Glacier feeds the Mowich River , which eventually flows into the Puyallup River .
