Eduard Gröller (born January 28, 1962 in Güssing ) is an Austrian computer scientist and professor at the Technical University of Vienna .

Life

Dr. Gröller received his doctorate from the Vienna University of Technology in 1993. Since 1994 he has been working in the Computer Graphics Research Department (Institute for Visual Computing & Human-Centered Technology), which he has also headed since 2019. He has given lectures on visualization at various other universities (Tübingen, Graz, Prague, Bahia Blanca, Magdeburg, Bergen). He was a scientific proponent and is currently a key researcher at the VRVis research center .

Since 2005, Dr. Gröller adjunct professor for computer science in the Visgroup of the University of Bergen, Norway . He is the co-author of more than 300 scientific publications and has worked as a reviewer for numerous conferences and journals in the field. He has also served on various program and selection committees. Examples are Computers & Graphics, IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Graphics, EuroVis Conference, IEEE Visualization Conference, Eurographics Conference. He was co-chair of Volume Graphics 2005, IEEE Visualization 2005 and 2006 and Eurographics 2006. He was co-chair of the VisSym Symposium 1999, the Eurographics 2011 Conference and the EuroVis 2012 Conference. Dr. Gröller was editor-in-chief of the Computer Graphics Forum Journal from 2008-2011. He was a member of the Steering Committee of the Eurographics Working Group on Data Visualization from 2001 to 2016, chairing the committee from 2011–2016.

In recent years, Dr. Gröller has worked in the areas of comparative medical visualization, multiscalar visualization, biomolecular visual analysis, visualization of nanostructures, visual analysis of parameter spaces, visual data science, and guided navigation. He is co-owner of seven patents. Dr. Gröller has published extensively in the field of visualization, e.g. B. more than 50 articles in the IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics Journal and more than 30 articles in the Computer Graphics Forum Journal. He has given over 140 scientific lectures. Dr. Gröller has supervised more than 100 master's students in the field of computer graphics and visual computing. He has supervised more than 45 PhD students, with some of his former PhD students having already established successful research groups in the field of visualization.

He is married and has two children.
