Eduard Gruber

Eduard Gruber (* 1952 in Weißenkirchen in der Wachau ) is an Austrian Catholic clergyman and has been Vicar General of the Diocese of St. Pölten since September 2008 .

Life

He studied Catholic theology at the seminary in St. Pölten and was ordained a priest in 1979 after his external year in Israel ( Dormition Abbey ) . As a chaplain he worked in Ybbs an der Donau , Schrems and Krems -St. Vitus.

From 1982 to 1985 Gruber completed a special course at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, which he completed in 1985 with a licentiate in Biblical Studies "summa cum laude". 1985 to 1987 he worked as a student chaplain in Graz . On September 1, 1987, Eduard Gruber became rector of the St. Hippolyt Education Center. In 1995 he was appointed consistorial councilor and in 1997 took over the parish of Krems-St. Vitus as pastor.

Gruber has been a diocesan judge since 1982 and a member of the diocesan council since 1987. From 1994 to 1997 he was a lecturer in Hebrew at the Philosophical-Theological University of St. Pölten , from 1988 to 1994 pastor of lay theologians and from 1988 to 1997 head of the retreat department . With effect from September 1, 2008, he was appointed vicar general of the diocese of St. Pölten by Bishop Klaus Küng .
