Eduard Hamedl

Eduard Hamedl (born October 30, 1951 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and police officer. Hamedl was a member of the Styrian state parliament from 2000 to 2015 .

education and profession

After primary and secondary school in Güssing , Hamedl attended an agricultural college and between 1970 and 1971 did his military service as a driver in Kaisersteinbruch and the Maria-Theresien-Kaserne . He joined the police in 1971 and completed a two-year training course as a police officer in Vienna, as well as a one-year training course for security guards on duty. He also made up his B-Matura and attended courses for training in the area of ​​“Special Group in Serious Crime” as well as debriefing and psychological training units. Hamedl is a member of a special group for negotiations in the event of hostage-taking and suicide threats, as well as extortion and kidnapping, and was deployed in the disasters in Lassing and Kaprun . He has also been a life and social counselor since 2010.

politics

Hamedl worked in the comradeship of the executive and was a member of the service committee. He was elected to the Styrian Landtag in 2000. According to his own statements, his political focus lies in the areas of emergency organizations, security in town and country, drug policy, and youth and family. During his time in the state parliament he was security spokesman for the ÖVP state parliament club. Other functions: Deputy District Party Chairman in Graz-Andritz, Vice President of the Styrian Civil Protection Association, Board of Trustees at WEIL, Chairman of the “Men’s Emergency Call Styria” association and Deputy Chairman of the “Safe Graz” association.

Cycling

Hamedl was a cyclist and is currently (as of June 2015) President of the Styrian State Cycling Association.
