Eduard Kerschbaumer

Eduard Kerschbaumer (born May 19, 1920 , † October 1995 ) was an Austrian boxer and Olympian from 1948.

Boxing career

Kerschbaumer was Austrian featherweight champion in 1947 and 1948, and Austrian lightweight champion in 1950. In an international match against Germany in 1951, he lost to Günther Heidemann .

He also took part in the 14th Summer Olympics in London in 1948, where he started in the featherweight division. After a walk-through in the preliminary round, he beat the Spaniard Felipe Verdú on points in the round of 16 and moved into the quarter-finals. In the fight for a place in the semifinals and thus safe win a bronze medal, he suffered a point defeat against Francisco Núñez from Argentina.
