Eduard Knirsch

Eduard Knirsch (born January 20, 1869 , † September 23, 1955 in Vienna ) was an Austrian dentist and entomologist who specialized in beetles (Coleoptera). He was particularly interested in the blind beetles , for which he published numerous new descriptions.

His collection can be found in the Museum Victoria in Melbourne , in the Museum of Comparative Zoology, Harvard University , and on Palearctic Cetoniidae, Lucanidae and Cave Silphidae with the K. Brancsik collection in 1955 in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. He published articles, for example articles on the knowledge of the insect fauna of German East Africa, especially the Matengo highlands . , based on the collections of Hans Zerny .
