Eduard Meier brand in the 1920s and 1990s

The brands Ed.Meier Munich or Eduard Meier and the company Eduard Meier GmbH emerged from the shoemaking business of the master shoemaker Eduard Meier, who had been the royal Bavarian purveyor to the court since 1895 . The main store is located at Brienner Strasse 10 in Munich.

history

The company can be traced back to the 19th century. A connection to the Mayr shoemaker's mentioned in 1596 cannot be verified. The company was awarded the title purveyor to the court of the Princes of Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen and, in 1895, purveyor to the royal Bavarian court. At the beginning of the 20th century, Wilhelm Eduard Meier expanded the range to include ready-made footwear. At that time there were 10,000 pairs of custom-made strips in the then headquarters, Karlstrasse 3 and 5 in Munich.

After the end of the Second World War , the company was rebuilt by Eduard Meier II, who had taken over the company from his father. The siblings Peter Eduard and Brigitte Meier have been managing partners of the company since 1985.

Pedoskop and Peduform

Wilhelm Eduard Meier was the first in Europe to use an X-ray machine, the so-called pedoscope, to check the accuracy of fit of the finished and bespoke footwear .
