Eduard Platner

Eduard Platner (born August 4, 1894 in Witzenhausen , † August 2, 1980 in Kassel ) was a German politician ( CDU , later DP ). He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1953 to 1957. Originally elected for the CDU, he joined the German party on December 12, 1956. He was the only member of the Bundestag elected for the CDU who went this way, while various DP parliamentarians transferred to the CDU.

Life

Platner went to a grammar school in Hannoversch Münden from 1907 to 1914 and was a soldier in the First World War for the following four years . From 1919 to 1921 he studied law, economics and philosophy at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and subsequently passed both state law exams. From then on he worked as a lawyer and notary until the end of the Second World War . From 1933 he often represented political defendants whom he represented in court as a criminal defense lawyer. After the end of the Second World War he was mayor of Witzenhausen from 1945 to 1948, after which he was appointed to the higher regional judge .

politics

From 1919 to 1925 he belonged to the German Democratic Party , in which he was involved. Among other things, he founded a subgroup of the party in Göttingen. From 1928 to 1931 he was a member of the German National People's Party . Platner became a member of the CDU in 1945. As a co-founder of the Witzenhausen district association, he also became its first chairman. He was later elected chairman of the Northern Hesse district association and, in 1953, also chairman of the CDU working group in North Hesse. He later also became deputy chairman of the CDU in Hesse. In 1953, Platner was elected to the German Bundestag via the CDU state list of Hessen. During the current legislative period, he joined the German Party (DP) on December 12, 1956 and was accepted into the DP / FVP parliamentary group on March 14, 1957. While many politicians switched from the DP to the CDU after the Second World War, Platner was the only one who left the CDU to join the DP. During his term of office, he worked in the Committee on Rules of Procedure until January 1957 and then in the Committee on Civil Service Law. After the next general election in 1961, he left parliament.
