Eduard von Mayer
Eduard von Mayer in June (* 5. jul. / 17th June 1873 greg. Or June 6 jul. / 18th June 1873 greg. In Analowno in Saint Petersburg , † 26 December 1960 or 27. December 1960 in Minusio , Canton Tessin ) was a German-Ukrainian theater critic and art historian.
Life
He was born into a family of nine as the son of doctor Dr. Karl von Mayer, the founder of the Evangelical Hospital in St. Petersburg, was born. He studied natural sciences in St. Petersburg and Lausanne, then cultural history in Berlin and Halle, where he received his doctorate in 1897. From 1902 he was a theater critic for the Deutsche Zeitung in Berlin. From 1907 he worked with Elisar von Kupffer in Florence and Switzerland. In 1911 he was the owner of the clearist Akropolis publishing house in Munich and in 1915 he settled in Locarno.
