Eduardo Chicharro y Agüera (born June 18, 1873 in Madrid ; † 1949 there ) was a Spanish painter.

Chicharro studied at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando with Carlos de Haes , Alejo Vera , Luis de Madrazo , Jaime Morera and José Moreno Carbonero and also took lessons with Joaquín Sorolla . He completed his training as a scholarship holder in Rome and on trips through France and Holland. In 1910 he founded the Asociación de pintores y escultores , whose first president he became, and from 1912 to 1925 he headed the Academia Española de Bellas Artes de Roma as the successor to Ramón del Valle-Inclán .

He then became Professor and Director of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando , as well as Inspector General of the Escuelas de Artes y Oficios and Director General de Bellas Artes . His most famous student was Pablo San Segundo Castañeda . At the national exhibitions in 1899 and 1904 he received second and first prizes, respectively, and a medal of honor at the 1922 exhibition. He won first prizes at the Exposiciones Internacionales in Liège, Munich and Barcelona. His son Eduardo Chicharro Briones became known as a painter and poet.
