Eduardo Risso (oarsman)

Eduardo G. Risso Salaverría (born November 1, 1925 ) is a former Uruguayan rower . He won an Olympic silver medal in 1948 .

At the 1948 Olympic rowing regatta on the Thames near Henley , Risso finished second in the first run behind the Australian Mervyn Wood , but was more than ten seconds behind. In the hope run , Risso prevailed against the Swiss HJ Keller with seven tenths of a second. There were three semi-finals, of which only the winner advanced to the final. Risso won his race with a lead of four tenths of a second over the American Kelly . Mervyn Wood, Eduardo Risso and the Italian Romolo Catasta reached the final . As close as Risso's previous runs were, the final was so clear. Wood won by over 13 seconds ahead of Risso, who in turn crossed the finish line over 13 seconds ahead of Catasta.

1951 Risso also took part in the Pan American Games .

The Olympic rowing regatta in 1952 in Meilahti , a suburb of Helsinki, was the first time the Soviet Union at the start. Risso met the representative of the Soviet Union Yuri Tjukalow , who won the heat before Risso. The two semi-finals were won by Briton Tony Fox and Juri Tjukalow, Risso crossed the finish line in his semi-finals behind Fox and Mervyn Wood. In addition to the semi-final winners, three other finalists were determined in three hope runs. Risso was only third in his repechage and missed the final, which Tjukalow won before Wood.
