Edvin Wilhelm Henning

Edvin Wilhelm Henning (born May 23, 1899 in Stockholm , † July 13, 1955 in Askim, Gothenburg ) was a Swedish painter and sculptor .

He studied painting at the Art Academy in Stockholm , graduating there in 1922. He then studied painting and sculpture in Paris and in North and South America. He spent many years in Hollywood doing sculpture work in film studios.

Public works by Wilhelm Henning can be found in Gothenburg. His reliefs on the building of the former Gothenburg shipping company Transatlantics are particularly well known. From the 1940s onwards, Henning preferred to paint street scenes in Gothenburg, which was heavily influenced by South American modernism.

The Moderna Museet in Stockholm has a collection of paintings and sculptures by the artist.
