Edward Skyler
Edward "Ed" Skyler (born April 11, 1973 ) is an American lawyer and politician . He held the office of Deputy Mayor for the Active Authorities ( Deputy Mayor for Operations ) in New York , under Mayor Michael Bloomberg .
Skyler was the youngest incumbent in the position, responsible for the Police Department , Fire Department , Office of Emergency Management , Office of Management and Budget, and Office of Labor Relations . Before that, he was Deputy Mayor for Administration and from 1995 to 1999 Deputy Chief of Staff and Press Officer ( Public Information Director ). Under Mayor Rudy Giuliani he was Deputy Press Secretary, then in Bloomberg's election campaign staff in similar responsibility.
He received his school and university degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Fordham University's School of Law .
