Sir Edward Stradling, 4th Baronet (around 1643 - September 5, 1685 ) was an English nobleman.

Origin and role during the Stuart restoration

Edward came from the Stradling family , an old family of gentry from Glamorgan . He was the eldest son of Edward Stradling, 3rd Baronet and his wife Catherine Perry . His father had died before 1661 at the latest, probably before 1646, when his mother married Bussy Mansel for the second time . Edward already held the title of Baronet , of St Donat’s in the County of Glamorgan when he obtained a master’s degree from Oxford University on September 12, 1661 . Like his father and grandfather, he was a royalist. After the Restoration of Stuart , it was proposed that he be made Knight of the Royal Oak , but King Charles II decided not to found this new order. As Deputy Lieutenant of Glamorgan, Stradling assisted in the implementation of the Restoration Enforcement Acts, also known as the Clarendon Code , in the 1660s . In 1685 he signed an order to arrest a suspected rebel.

Stradling had married on November 20, 1667 Elizabeth Hungerford , a daughter of Anthony Hungerford of Farleigh Castle in Somerset and of his wife Rachel Jones . He had several sons with her, including:

After his early death, his eldest son Edward became his heir.
