Antenna effective area

The antenna  effective area A W (also effective antenna area or antenna absorption area ) is a characteristic of receiving antennas . It determines which electrical power  P is drawn from the electromagnetic field at a given power density  S of the field:

From the supplied power z. B. determine which voltages occur with a known electromagnetic field  S at the antenna connection.

The relationship between the maximum effective antenna area and antenna gain G at a known wavelength  λ can be derived from the reciprocity law :
