The mountain rufescens ( Nebria rufescens , Syn .: Nebria gyllenhali ) also Gyllenhals rufescens is a species from the family of ground beetles (Carabidae).

features

The beetles are 9 to 12 millimeters long. Their body is completely black in color, and unlike the Dahl's periwinkle ( Nebria dahlii ), the crown does not have a red spot. Rarely, the longitudinally striped wings can be reddish-brown, or the legs yellow-brown. The pronotum is more than 1.5 times longer than it is wide and has the same basal width as the front. The shoulders stand out clearly.

Occurrence and way of life

The species occurs in northern and central Europe , east to Siberia and in North America . They are found in boreomontane locations, forests near cold waters, such as on the banks of stony, gravelly mountain streams and rivers.
