The Egerer Schlössl is located in the municipality of Weyer in the Steyr-Land district in Upper Austria (Marktplatz 30).

history

The Egerer Schlössl was built in 1560 on the site of a fortification that was cremated in the Turkish Wars in 1532. The builder of the fortress-like new building was Wolf Egerer, an "ironworks". Lorenz Egerer, a brother of Wolf, lived in the castle until the end of his life. The Egerers themselves can be traced back to Weyer until the middle of the 17th century. Until 1848 the building served as the seat of the nursing court. After that, the owners often changed, e.g. B. it came into the hands of the Schweigels.

Egerer Schlössl today

The already very dilapidated Egerer Schlössl was acquired in 1977 by the communities of Weyer and Gaflenz . In cooperation with the monument office and the cultural department of the province of Upper Austria, the building was restored and an extension was added. In 1981 a music school and a technical school for women in business were opened. Also for exhibitions, e.g. B. by the painter Josef Gabriel Frey, the building is used.
