Egon Huber

Egon Huber (born August 17, 1907 in Öhringen ; † November 12, 1986 in Lugano ) was a German Romance studies and literary scholar.

life and work

Huber attended schools in Heilbronn and Tübingen. He studied mathematics, physics and chemistry at the University of Tübingen and graduated in 1933 with the state examination. He went to Switzerland and studied Italian as a foreign language in Siena , Rome and Perugia . From 1939 to 1945 he was a war interpreter. After the World War he studied Romance Philology in Tübingen, where he received his doctorate from Kurt Wais in 1952 . In 1963 he completed his habilitation there and was full professor for French, Italian and Spanish literary studies at the University of Mannheim from 1965 to 1971 as successor to Walter Mönch (successor: Peter Brockmeier, * 1934).
