The former steamship landing stage with the “Bastei” waiting house on Von-Sandt-Ufer at the corner of Rheinallee in the Rüngsdorf district of Bonn was built by the Godesberg community between 1898 and 1900.

The financing of the construction of the landing bridge and the station and waiting shed (called: "Bastei") by the municipality was a prerequisite for integrating Godesberg into the route network of the Cologne-Düsseldorf Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt . The construction company was the local company Theodor Wilhelm Düren . At the beginning of the 20th century, the then famous paddle steamer “Stolzenfels” operated here . Later the Rheinallee was also extended to the banks of the Rhine in order to ensure the connection between the town center and the landing stage. In 1998 the building was extensively renovated. The ensemble and the surrounding gardens are under monument protection (No. A 998) and still serve as a landing stage for the Cologne-Düsseldorf shipping line and the Siebengebirge passenger shipping company . The former waiting building is now used as a restaurant and beer garden "Bastei". In 1908 an electric Rhine ferry was put into operation next to the landing stage, which leads to the opposite bank of the Rhine in Niederdollendorf and still operates today as the Rhine ferry Bad Godesberg – Niederdollendorf with the ferries "Christophorus" (1962) and "Konrad-Adenauer" (1967) . The ferry replaced a connection previously operated on the left bank of the Rhine in Plittersdorf .
