Horst Heidermann

Horst Heidermann (born April 1, 1929 in the Hardenberg-Neviges urban area , today in Wuppertal ; † April 4, 2018 in Bonn ) was a German political scientist and economist . From 1986 to 1989 he was the managing director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation .

Live and act

Heidermann, the son of a ribbon weaver, attended elementary school and the municipal high school in the Barmen district of Wuppertal , where he graduated from high school in 1950. He then studied economics, sociology and social policy at the Universities of Bonn and Cologne . He joined the SPD in 1951 and was a member of the Socialist German Student Union (SDS). Heidermann completed his economics studies in 1954 with a diploma ; in Cologne, he was then as Assistant Professor Gerhard Weisser worked and was there in 1958 with a thesis on the domestic industry in the Bergisch Bandweberei doctorate . From September 1958 he was employed as a research assistant in the research institute of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, whose management he took over in February 1961. In 1965 he became deputy managing director of the foundation. From 1980 to 1984 Heidermann also served as managing director of the JHW Dietz Nachf. Bonn publishing house, which is part of the foundation . From May 1986 he was finally a managing board member of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and retired in this function in September 1989.

In retirement, Heidermann continued to work scientifically and now as a writer outside of his profession. In particular, he devoted himself in numerous publications to local history topics from his hometown Wuppertal and his later place of residence Bad Godesberg , a current district of Bonn, as well as painters from the Düsseldorf School and other artists from the region. He also created catalog raisonnés for the painters Peter Schwingen (2000) and Johann Richard Seel (2003). He was one of the most productive authors of the Godesberger Heimatblätter , published as the annual edition of the Association for Homeland Care and Local History Bad Godesberg , for which, among other things, he first reviewed the industrial history of the city district.

Heidermann was married and last lived in the Bad Godesberg district of Muffendorf . He was buried in the Heiderhof forest cemetery .
