Ehrenberg - The Time Travel, Roman & Knight Games is an annual, three-day large medieval event in Reutte , Austria

The event takes place every year on the last weekend of July in the area of ​​the Ehrenberger Klause below Ehrenberg Castle, a district of the municipality of Reutte in Tyrol . It was held for the first time from July 23 to 25, 2004. The event was originally planned only once. Due to the enormous influx of visitors, however, it was decided to repeat it in the following years. Each year the program has special features. The organizers have been the Reutte Nature Park Region and the Bavamont company since the beginning.

The event is carried by numerous groups of showmen . These come mainly from the German-speaking area. They represent different cultures in specific epochs that have influenced Europe throughout history. Over 100 vendors sell medieval market goods, food and handicrafts during the festival. The number of participants is around 2,000 - 2,500 people. The number of visitors in 2009 was given as around 20,000.

The festival area is about one kilometer long. It extends from the exit Burgenwelt Ehrenberg of the Fernpassstraße (B 179) along the Katzenbichlbach up the valley on a meadow around the Ehrenberger Klause.

Ehrenbergarena

Medieval market
The large medieval market is the central point of the event. Various traders offer visitors medieval-inspired dishes as well as handicrafts from all ages and cultures of the ancient world .
Camp life
Mainly in the rear part of the festival area, actors and actors who represent different epochs of different cultures are lying down for the entire duration of the event. The attempt is made to give the visitor a picture of everyday life. The individual groups bring the visitors closer to features of the depicted population, such as religion, history, weapons and clothing style. Examples of the cultures shown are Normans (Vikings), European knighthood , Napoleonic armies / modern armies , Oriental peoples, Romans and Celts .
At the daily Ehrenberg Parade, the costumed actors and actors present themselves in the form of a magnificent parade on the festival site. In the tournament arena, the herald introduces the individual groups to the audience.
Tournament arena
Knight tournaments of various kinds are held in the tournament arena . The most spectacular is a tournament that is divided into three parts and thus covers all three days of the event and has a general plot. There is a night tournament with plenty of fire effects and torchlight.
Medieval concert
A modern stage has been set up in the center of the festival area, on which well-known groups perform music from the medieval scene every evening .
Battle of Ehrenberg
On the battlefield, right next to the large tent city (camp site), a large-scale field and cannon battle takes place every day, in which all soldiers, knights and gunners trained in exhibition combat take part.
Fireworks
On Saturday evening, a huge firework display with a duration of approx. 20 minutes will be shown at the end of the day . It is fired from Ehrenberg Castle .
