Medal of Honor "Commitment and Action to Protect the GDR"

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medal of honor "Confession and deed to protect the GDR" was an award of the Free German Youth (FDJ) of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was founded in 1972 and awarded until 1978. Its successor in 1979 was the Medal of Honor “Confession and Deed to Protect Socialism” . The gilded medal shows on its obverse two heads looking to the left, the one in the back a member of the NVA and the one in front a member of the FDJ. The lapel is smooth and shows the inscription: Confession and deed to protect the GDR . The medal was worn on the upper left side of the chest of the entrant on a golden clasp, which shows the colored enamelled coat of arms of the FDJ in the middle, of which a laurel branch is attached to the outside on both sides.
