Badge of Honor of the Chamber of Technology

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Badge of Honor of the Chamber of Technology was awarded by the Chamber of Technology of the same name (KDT) of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which in 1955 was initially called the Golden Needle of the Chamber of Technology and was only renamed the Badge of Honor in 1962 . Initially donated only in one level, the badge of honor was then awarded in three levels from 1965, bronze , silver or gold .

Appearance and wearing style

The bronze, silver-plated or gold-plated badge of honor is round and has a diameter of 23 mm from 1975, when the layout was changed, then only 20 mm and until then showed the KDT symbol in the middle on a grained background surrounded by a laurel wreath. The second version of this badge after 1975 also showed the KDT symbol in the middle, again enclosed by a laurel wreath but within two rings. Overall, the change resulted in a deterioration of the badge of honor, which from this version was only clumsy and less detailed than its predecessor. A transverse soldered needle with a counter-hook was attached to the back of both versions. The latter versions are currently being sold for around 10 to 12 €, depending on the version (as of 2010).
