Badge of Honor of the Urania
The Urania badge of honor was awarded by the Urania - Society for the Dissemination of Scientific Knowledge of the German Democratic Republic (GDR), which was donated in one step in 1956 and in three steps from 1973. They were usually awarded for special achievements in the dissemination of scientific knowledge and association work.
Appearance and wearing style
The bronze , silver-plated, gold - plated badge of honor is round and was 18 mm in size from 1956 to 1972 and showed an open book in front of a torch. From 1973 the badge of honor took the form of a medal with a diameter of 20 mm and showed the open book in front of a burning torch according to the level awarded. A transverse needle was attached to the back.
