Order of Honor of the Palm
The Order of Honor of the Palm ( Dutch : Ere-Orde van de Palm ) is a military and civil award of the Republic of Suriname . It is awarded to Surinamers and foreigners for special merits in Suriname.
history
The Order of Honor was introduced for the independence of Suriname on November 25, 1975 and replaced the Dutch Order of Orange-Nassau . The President of Suriname is the Grand Master of the Order.

insignia
The badge of the order consists of a five-pointed gold star with a medallion in the middle. The white medallion with the image of a palm tree is surrounded by a red ribbon. The motto “JUSTITIA - PIETAS - FIDES” (justice, piety, loyalty) is written in gold letters on the red ribbon. The military division has crossed swords on the star.
The ribbons are green with a white central stripe.
Medal awards 2015
On November 17th, 2015, shortly before the 40th Independence Day of Suriname, in the garden of the Presidential Palace in Paramaribo, President Bouterse awarded the Order of Honor of the Palm to 157 civilians for their exceptional contributions to the development of the country in the various classes. Also in November 2015, 79 military and 36 police officers were decorated with the Order of Honor of the Palm.
