Badge of honor of the Finnish Luftgaustabes

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The plaque of honor of the Luftgustabes Finland was a non-wearable award of the German Air Force during the Second World War , which was donated by the General der Flieger Julius Schulz in 1942 for the members of the Luftgustabes Finland. The plaque of honor was awarded on special probation . The Luftgau Office Finland existed from the beginning of 1940 to August 1941 and was then renamed the Luftgau Command Finland and later the Commanding General of the German Air Force in Finland .

The plaque made of cast bronze is 165 mm high, 118 mm wide and shows in its overall representation an indicated earth circle with an arctic circle with the Scandinavian peninsula . The state of Finland is illuminated by a ray of sunshine. The other three remaining rays of the sun disappear behind the globe . The Luftwaffe emblem is emblazoned on the cloudy sky itself. The lower part of the plaque, on the other hand, shows the four-line inscription: FOR SPECIAL PROMOTION / THE COMMANDING GENERAL / OF THE LUFTGAUSTABES FINLAND and the year the plaque was awarded in 1942 . There are also examples with the year 1943 and 1944 known. Despite the renaming of the original agency, the designation as Luftgaustab Finland remained the same. The back is, apart from the stamped matriculation number, smooth and shows a hanging device on the upper head through which a nail or the like can be driven. The maximum number of awards that has been determined so far was 1151, with the recipient receiving the badge with a certificate in DIN A5 format.
