location

Approx. 2 km north of Ostbevern on Lengericher Damm.

history

On February 15, 1933, the "Aa-Regulierungsgenossenschaft" commissioned the Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten, to straighten the Glane . They built a barrack camp not far from the current settlement. Subsequently, this camp was used by the Reich Labor Service as a camp for the accommodation of prisoners of war and forced labor. At the end of the Second World War, Ostbevern had to take in 975 displaced persons and refugees who were initially housed there. Many of them were entitled to an agriculturally usable business due to the Burden Equalization Act . Therefore, in the 1950s, a settlement was created in the outdoor area, where it was made possible for the settlers to farm a ¼ hectare area in addition to a house and to keep small livestock. Today hardly any agriculture is practiced there. In the 1990s, the settlement was connected to the community's sewage treatment network at great expense.
