The Eichendorffschule is a primary school in the Rohrbach district of Heidelberg .
history
In the 19th century, the denominational schools were dissolved and in 1876 a simultaneous school was introduced, for which the Rohrbach municipality was no longer responsible. The school building was built by Philipp Thomas in 1890/91. Even then, two extensions were planned, carried out in 1903 (axially symmetrical extension to the north) and 1910 (adding an upper floor). In 1950/51 extensions followed to the north and south and named after Joseph von Eichendorff , who lived in Rohrbach and immortalized his affection for a Rohrbach cooper's daughter in his diaries and in the poem In a cool ground . In 2008/09 the primary school was completely renovated.
building
The listed building has a gabled central projection . The neo-renaissance stone facade has a delicate décor that sets the Eichendorff School apart from the similarly built Tiefburg School in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim .
