The Tiefburgschule is a state primary school in Heidelberg-Handschuhsheim . The name comes from the nearby Tiefburg . About 270 students are currently attending the school. The school's director is Eberhard Kunze.
The historic school building (old building) was built in 1887 and has some similarities with the Eichendorff School in Heidelberg-Rohrbach. The building can be assigned to the neo-renaissance style. In 1995 the school got a gym.
The extension, which was completed in 2003, was awarded an architecture prize. Among other things, the school offers homework supervision, a day care center (supervised by päd-aktiv eV) and lunch.
The school was part of the “model project school social work at Heidelberg primary schools”. All schools in Heidelberg now offer school social work . This offers various possibilities of help for schoolchildren (for example in the case of bullying or child welfare endangerment ) or parents (for example with school, family or personal problems).
