Federal Song Festival 1854

The 6th Federal Singers' Festival took place on July 16 and 17, 1854 in Winterthur . A total of 1400 singers took part in 80 clubs, as well as a guest club of the Swabian Singers' Association. The festival was organized by the Stadtsängerverein Winterthur (today Stadtsänger Winterthur). A festival hut for 7,000 people was set up on the area of ​​today's train station for the festival .

The pastor and dean Jakob Schmid acted as party president  . The president of the jury was the well-known composer Franz Xaver Schnyder von Wartensee , the festival director of the overall performance was the head of the town singers' association Ernst Methfessel .
