Ernst Methfessel
Ernst Methfessel (born May 20, 1811 in Mühlhausen , † January 20, 1886 in Winterthur ) was a German composer .
The younger brother of Adolph Methfessel and nephew of Albert Methfessel worked as an oboist and cor anglais first in the Erfurt Military Music , then from 1834 to 1836 in the Basel orchestra . From 1837 to 1862 he headed the Winterthur Music College . In addition, from 1839 to 1872 he was the conductor of the Winterthur City Singers' Association.
He composed an opera , numerous works for the oboe as well as songs , choirs and male choirs. He has also appeared as a soloist in Germany and Switzerland.
