Alan & Denise were a British pop duo consisting of the couple Alan and Denise Whittle.
Career
In 1983 the duo landed a medium chart success in Germany with the single Rummenigge . The song is an ode to the German soccer player Karl-Heinz Rummenigge , who was at the zenith of his career at the time, and his sexy knees. In the same year a German-language cover version was created with the two actors Cleo Kretschmer and Wolfgang Fierek . The idea for the song came to the two of them when Rummenigge scored both German goals in the 2-1 victory of the German national soccer team at Wembley Stadium on October 13, 1982 and the English soccer reporter, who commented on the game on English television, came up with the line "Rummenigge, what a man" got carried away.
“At first I was totally annoyed. Then I got to know them both and found them very nice. In Hamburg the song was once used as a provocation against me. I played at Inter Milan, back then it was still considered a betrayal of the fatherland to move abroad. Before the game at HSV, I was booed and insulted while warming up. And then they played the song too. I stopped warming up after three minutes. My trainer at the time asked me in the cabin aisle why I wasn't warming up. I just said, 'Coach, I'm not warm. I'm hot.' "
A successor from 1986, Beckenbauer, Beckenbauer was unsuccessful.
