Adolph Methfessel
Adolph Methfessel (born March 7, 1807 in Mühlhausen ; † November 17, 1878 in Bern ) was a German composer and conductor .
Life
Adolph Methfessel, a nephew of Albert Methfessel , was from 1830 solo cellist and flautist of the Bernische Musikgesellschaft, which he led as conductor from 1841. He was succeeded in May 1859 by Eduard Franck .
In addition, he was director of the Berner Liedertafel from 1849 to 1867 and, from 1869, cello teacher at the city's music school.
He wrote pieces for flute and violoncello . Hugo Bussmeyer was one of his students .
