Federal Song Festival 1862

The 10th Federal Singers' Festival took place from July 19 to 21, 1862 in Chur . Thus, for the first time, the singing festival did not take place in an originally German-speaking city (Chur has been German-speaking since the 15th century). A total of 1,800 singers took part in 47 associations, including a choir from Ticino for the first time . The festival was organized by the Chur Mixed Choir.

The festival president was the Bündner Nationalrat Johann Gaudenz Dietegen von Salis-Seewis . The president of the jury was the Bernese choir pioneer Johann Rudolf Weber , the festival director of the overall performance was the Chur conductor Eusebius Käslin .
