Eiliff

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eiliff was a German Krautrock band , strongly influenced by jazz , that published almost exclusively instrumental titles.

history

In the late 1960s by Rainer Brüninghaus (organ) with Houschäng Nejadepour (guitar), Detlev Landmann (born July 24, 1946 in Essen; drums), Herbert J. Kalveram (born February 26, 1944 in Oberhausen; saxophone) and Bill Brown (Bass guitar), keyboard, saxophone and sometimes instruments from other cultures (e.g. the sitar ) dominated the sound of the group based in Cologne and the Ruhr area.

The two LPs, released in 1971 and the following year, offer extensive improvisations which, however, did not catch on with the audience and reminded critics of Soft Machine and Xhol Caravan , sometimes also of the Mahavishnu Orchestra . A single that should come closer to the public's taste was also unsuccessful. Live recordings only appeared many years after the band broke up in the late 1970s, after Brüninghaus had gradually joined Volker Kriegel as early as 1973 and all of the founding members except for Landmann.
