Xhol Caravan , only Xhol since 1970 , was a Krautrock band from Wiesbaden .

The group, often referred to as the “pioneers of Krautrock”, is best known for their 1969 LP Electrip .

Xhol Caravan emerged from the group Soul Caravan (1967–1969), which mainly played soul with occasional jazz and blues interludes. Through contact with psychedelic (ie mind-expanding) drugs , the band members at that time found psychedelic music with strong jazz influences. They documented this by renaming it to Xhol Caravan in early 1969 .

The soundtrack for Wir - Zwei from 1970 by Ulrich Schamoni comes from Xhol Caravan and for the 1970/71 German drama Das Unheil by Peter Fleischmann they also contributed the soundtrack and also performed at a band rehearsal there.

In order not to be confused with the English Caravan from Canterbury , which were just becoming popular at the time, and to manifest the style of music that had changed after Hansi Fischer's departure (to Embryo ), the band shortened their name to Xhol in early 1970 . It disbanded in May 1972.
