Dugout canoe from Rouen
The dugout canoe of Rouen ( French La pirogue de Rouen ) was found between 1993 and 1994 in Rouen in the Seine-Maritime department in Normandy in France .
Work in the area of a former island, south of the Place de la Pucelle, made it possible to investigate an area of almost 3,000 m² near the Seine . The earlier silting of the valley resulted in the preservation of elements from the Bronze and Iron Ages . The most important find was the 4.5 m long remnant of a dugout canoe made from an oak trunk . Its side planks are almost completely absent.
