The monochrome Swiss pigeon is a breed of domestic pigeon that is several centuries old . It is considered a Swiss breed of origin and belongs to the group of Swiss colored pigeons . It is not possible to assign them to a racial group. The body shape of the Bernese and Thurgau types is the same, so that their monochrome variants cannot be distinguished and are summarized as “monochrome Swiss pigeons”. The special association of breeders "Swiss pigeon races" in Germany still assigns them to the Thurgau pigeons, while Schille and Schütte assign them to the Bernese type.

One always meets the monochrome Swiss pigeon with a pointed cap . The forehead should rise steeply and finally end in a flowing curve in the comb (pointed cap).
Colours
In standard nearly twenty colors strikes are called. The whites are particularly widespread. Occasionally, blue ones with or without black bands, blue hammered ones and ice-colored ones with white or without bandages are exhibited. The colors are also recognized: black, brown, red, yellow, blue-steel with or without dark bands, red and yellow-white with or without bands, blue-steel-hammered, red-white-hammered and yellow-white-hammered. In addition, blacks, browns, reds, yellows and blues with white bands are known, black and white scaly, blue and white scaly and cat gray (blue mold).
