Swiss colored pigeons

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Swiss colored pigeons form a subgroup of colored pigeons . With the exception of the Swiss Kröpfers, they include all pedigree pigeons that were bred out of Switzerland .

The Swiss colored pigeons differ somewhat in shape and type from other colored pigeons and already formed their own subgroup within the colored pigeon family when they were divided into the subgroups full- colored , colored with white drawings and white with colored drawings , not according to their origin, but according to the drawing has been. With the exception of the Zurich Weissschwanz , they all wear a distinctive pointed cap .

The Swiss colored pigeons can be divided into several race groups. A uniform standard has been drawn up for Aargau , Bern , Thurgau and Wiggertaler pigeons . They only differ in color and drawing. Also, Lucerne and Zurich white tails associate with this standard. Since the Aargau and Bernese pigeons only differ in the drawing, but not in the type, their monochrome variants are collectively referred to as monochrome Swiss pigeons .

Lucerne pigeons have a smaller, stocky figure and, in contrast to the aforementioned race group, are behaved. Their ancestors include field pigeons, the original domesticated house pigeons , and gull pigeons .
