The monognathus ( Monognathus ( Gr. , Monos = single, gnathos live in the pine =)) Atlantic and in the Pacific , mostly at depths below 2,000 meters. It is characteristic of the genus that they lack the maxilla and premaxillary bones . The fish also have no pectoral fins , and dorsal and anal fins have no bony supports. One-jaw eels are transparent and grow to be 5 to 15 centimeters long. In the jaw there is a poisonous tooth connected to glands.
