Assessment of physical performance abilities in work-related activities

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Assessment of physical performance in work-related activities ( ELA ) is an assessment tool for assessing work-related physical performance. The typical physical demands of the world of work are recorded, such as lifting and carrying loads or standing in a bent position. The skills collected are compared with the requirements at the workplace (“job match” or “profile comparison”). The process is currently used in particular in occupational medical rehabilitation (e.g. MBOR).

Procedure

Simulation of concrete professional requirements in ELA

ELA belongs to the group of so-called Functional Capacity Evaluation procedures (FCE). It consists of 24 activity tests from the areas of posture (e.g. standing, kneeling, squatting), body locomotion (e.g. walking, climbing, crawling), body part movement (e.g. squats, stooping and standing up) as well as complex characteristics ( e.g. lifting, pushing and pulling, fine motor skills). The aim is to simulate concrete occupational requirements as realistic as possible while complying with FCE-specific test standards. The process is designed to be modular; individual activity tests can be selected according to the individual stress situation of the test person.

As an FCE procedure, ELA is approved for both workplace-related musculoskeletal rehabilitation (ABMR; on the part of the DGUV ) and for medically-professionally oriented rehabilitation (MBOR; on the part of the DRV ).

Theoretical basis

The theoretical basis of ELA is the profile comparison and documentation procedure IMBA ( integration of people with disabilities in work ) and the DOT construct of work-related performance.
