The rules of the casino game

General

Forty-one is played by three to seven people with a package of 32 French or double-German playing cards .

The number cards seven to ten count seven to ten, the picture cards jack, queen and king each count ten and the ace eleven points.

In the course of a game, each player receives four cards. The aim is to get the highest possible combination of cards or to persuade the other players to give up by playing skillfully (see poker ).

The ranking of the card combinations

The combinations in coloring in their order of precedence are, starting with the highest:

  • Four cards of the same rank : the highest hand is four aces, followed by four kings, etc.
  • Four cards of the same suit : If two players have a hand of four cards of the same suit , the total is decisive. This is a maximum of 41 points, from which the name of the game is derived. If a player holds 41 points, he receives a special payment from the casino.
  • Three cards of the same rank : the highest three of a kind is three aces, followed by three kings, etc.
  • Three cards of the same suit : If two players have a hand of three cards of the same suit, the total of the three cards of the same suit decides; the value of the fourth card does not matter.
  • Point Value : Does a player none of the above combinations, it adds the points of cards of the same rank or cards of the same color. If a player holds z. B.  A -  9 -  9 -  8, he can use either the two nines (18 points) or the two hearts cards (20 points) to evaluate his hand, the higher point value of course always applies.

If two players hold equal combinations, the forehand or the player sitting closer to the left of the forehand wins.

Course of a game

Ante

Before starting a game, each player pays a so-called ante into the pot , e.g. B. € 2.-. The forehand also bets an amount corresponding to the split limit (€ 5 / € 10), in the amount of the lower limit (€ 5).

When playing in the casino, the cards are always shared by the croupier , the role of the forehand changes clockwise after each game, and he receives a triangular mark called Spitz , comparable to the dealer button in Texas Hold'em , to identify his position .

In the private game, the role of the dealer changes clockwise, the player to the left of the dealer is the forehand.

First round of betting

Each player now receives two cards face down and then decides, starting with the player to the left of forehand, whether to stay in the game and keep the stake of the previous player or whether he wants to fold, in which case he discards his cards face down and is eliminated from the current game Game over (see Seven Card Stud - betting rounds ). However, a player can also increase the stake by the amount of the lower limit. In a betting round, the stake can be increased a maximum of three times.

Second betting round

All players who went along , are now dealt face down two more cards and place - after they have checked their hand - two of their four cards open before him on the table, hence the name Two on - two to . After that, a second betting round is carried out in the manner of the first betting round.

Show down

If a player pays the stake without increasing, although he is entitled to do so, or if there are more than two players remaining in the game, if the stake has already been increased three times, a show down occurs (see Seven Card Stud - Show down ). The players reveal their cards, the croupier determines the highest hand and pushes the pot to the winner.

If all but one of the players fold in a betting round, this player receives the pot and does not have to reveal his hand.

tax

The casino reserves from each pot a tax an amount of 5%, with a limit of each split adjusted maximum limit is not exceeded.

The above description is based on game instructions from Casinos Austria, which were available in the casinos at the time the game was offered. However, these instructions are somewhat imprecise with regard to the exact handling of the betting rounds, the reference to Seven Card Stud betting rounds is actually an interpretation of these rules.
