The Vlotho railway bridge leads the Elze – Löhne railway line across the Weser in the East Westphalian town of Vlotho . In addition to the Vlotho road bridge , it connects the district of Vlotho with Uffeln on the other bank of the river.
history
Construction work on the bridge began in 1872. On May 19, 1875, the first freight train crossed the bridge. In 1909 a second track was laid on the bridge that had already been prepared for this purpose during construction. During the Second World War , a trace of the bridge was destroyed in an Allied air raid in March 1945. The unaffected trail was blown up by German pioneers on April 3, 1945, parallel to the road bridge in Vlotho. After the war, the bridge was only repaired on a single track.
