Vlotho is at the Weser situated district of the city of the same Vlotho in East Westphalia Herford . Until December 31, 1968, Vlotho was an independent town in the Vlotho district with the independent communities of Exter and Valdorf. It was enlarged on January 1, 1973 by incorporating the municipality of Uffeln to the right of the Weser in the former Hausberge district . The district of Vlotho, with 6920 inhabitants (as of December 1, 2018), is the most populous in the city, and it is also where the city's administrative center is located.
The district area includes the Ebenöde with Amtshausberg and Steinberg with their forests. The residential area that dominates the rest of the district extends along Lange Straße at the southern foot of the Amtshausberg. It continues from the right bank area of the trout stream to the north slope of the winter mountain to the south of it. Service providers with different functions dominate commercial enterprises (retail, craft, gastronomy, etc.). As in many other small towns, the vacancy problem has increased in size in recent years.
Industry or manufacturing is no longer noticeably present. Particularly in the course of the establishment of Mindener Strasse as a through road L778 over the Weser to the Uffeln district , resident larger companies were relocated to the Hollwiesen industrial area in the Valdorf district in the 1970s .
