Spenge is a district of the eponymous town of Spenge in the East Westphalian district of Herford . Spenge was first mentioned in writing in 1160. Until the end of 1968 Spenge was an independent municipality in the Spenge office. On January 1, 1969, the place became a district of the new town of Spenge. With 8,696 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2001), Spenge is the most populous district of the city of Spenge and also the administrative seat of the city.
